Traffiocon 2024 - Wrap-Up
As we reflect on the very first Traffiocon, it’s both inspiring and bittersweet to think that our inaugural event has now come to an end. We brought together our customers, showcased the latest in Traffio, and shared valuable insights in a day filled with learning, networking, and celebration.
When we announced Traffiocon on 28th June 2024, we shared limited information about what the event would offer, the location was still undecided, and our schedule was tentative. The one certainty? Co-founder Nick’s vision to bring customers together in an immersive experience with Traffio. Initially, the goal was simply to host a gathering for our customers, giving them a deeper look into the platform. But as the plans grew, so did our ambitions—to also connect customers with our team, integration partners, and other business allies.
Choosing the right venue was a significant undertaking for our Marketing Team, who collaborated closely with Nick. After considering several locations around Melbourne’s CBD, we secured the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), which provided flexibility for growth, exceptional service, and the added convenience of hosting the National Roads and Traffic Expo next door over the next few days which was another event our team and customers would be attending. The early registrations did not disappoint, and reaching event capacity was exciting to see.
As we worked towards the event date on 29th October 2024, Traffio’s Development, Customer Success, and Marketing Teams came together to bring nine year long Nick’s vision to life. Our developers prepared both presentations and newly developed features, ensuring all functions would be ready for post-Traffiocon use by customers.
We were also joined by several key partners, including APositive, TAA, TMAA, Access Group, and Verizon Connect. Their support and contributions were invaluable, and we truly appreciate the role our partners play in helping Traffio and our customers succeed, whether through integration, business partnerships or industry support.
Once the details of food, drink, seating, and venue arrangements were sorted and with registration at capacity, it was time for Traffiocon to begin. The day featured three main components:
The TMAA Members Breakfast, proudly sponsored by Traffio
Traffiocon Presentations
The Traffiocon Afterparty at the Boat Builders Yard
The TMAA Members Breakfast kicked off the day, running from 8 am to 10 am, where Michael Bailey, Executive Director for Barwon South West/Grampians at the Department of Transport and Planning, gave an inspiring address.
At 10 am, Traffiocon officially began. From the initial welcome through to the presentations, there was something for everyone.
Our team covered, how the well known Anthony Simmons came to be at Traffio, and how Traffio came to be, they way this has done a full circle is amusing. We introduced Team Traffio, including those who were on annual leave, with many customers commenting, just how big our team is. Throughout the day, attendees could connect with our team, learn more about Traffio’s journey, and discover new features through our Traffio specific presentations:

The afternoon session provided a more interactive experience, allowing guests to enjoy refreshments while exploring the new Traffio Procurement, engaging in a Q&A session with our partners and team, and hearing from Jerome Carslake of Monash University. Jerome discussed recent safety campaigns and shared insights into how CLOKs will potentially impact our industry.
The session sparked meaningful customer feedback and ideas we look forward to developing in the future.
No conference is complete without a celebration! After the formal events wrapped up, we hosted guests for a casual gathering at the MCEC, followed by an afterparty at the Boat Builders Yard. This gathering was a fantastic opportunity for our customers to connect with our team and partners, sharing ideas, stories, and a great Melbourne evening.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our partners, especially APositive and Solveable, for their generous contributions to the food and drinks.
